Amanpuri was Aman's first property, built on Phuket's west coast in a coconut grove above the Andaman Sea. Architect Ed Tuttle designed its villas after the Buddhist architecture of Ayutthaya, Siam's second capital: pointed, tiled roofs repeated across every building on the estate.
A Sanctuary of Architectural Elegance
Villas range from one to nine bedrooms, each individually decorated with handpicked art and antiques rather than a repeated house style.
The materials are consistent across the estate even where the layouts vary: teak wood, stone floors, and open sightlines between the interior and the garden or pool outside, so a villa never feels sealed off from the coconut grove around it.

Ocean-front villas look straight out over the Andaman Sea; Garden Villas sit further back, screened by tropical planting instead.
Every villa, ocean-front or garden, has its own private pool — not a shared resort pool, but one set within the villa's own grounds, so the sea view or the garden screen is the only thing separating a couple from the water.

An Enclave of Privacy and Luxury
The Garden Villas are the more private of the two types, set back from the shoreline within the estate's own tropical planting rather than facing the open coast.

Every villa comes with its own resident Thai chef, cooking in the villa itself rather than requiring a trip to a central restaurant — a genuine private kitchen, not an in-room dining menu.

A Commitment to Sustainability
Amanpuri also runs an Eco-Beach Discovery Centre on site, part of the resort's own environmental programme rather than a general sustainability statement.
