The Grand Staircase at 116 Pall Mall climbs in one sweep beneath a fifteen-foot Regency chandelier to a statue in its own niche, and it is licensed for civil ceremonies. Guests fill the marble hall below and the balcony above. It is the moment couples come here for, and it happens before anybody has taken a seat.

A Ceremony On The Grand Staircase.

The 2026 wedding brochure is plain about it: a variety of spaces, including the grand staircase, are all licensed for wedding ceremonies. Most couples choose the stairs. The bride comes down beneath the chandelier, the marine paintings either side, guests packed into the hall and along the balcony, and the whole building watches. Others marry in the gold-leaf Carlton, floral pillars lining the aisle to the grand piano. Either way, the registrar is booked separately through Westminster Registry Office, and those fees are not included in the venue hire.

Searcys In-House, Or Your Own On Dry Hire.

Searcys is the official caterer and cooks the wedding breakfast at full banqueting scale under the chandeliers of the Nash. But 116 Pall Mall also allows external caterers on dry hire, with access to the second-floor kitchen and an £1,800 inc VAT damage deposit, recommending Green Leaf and Blackstone. For a family who wants their own kitchen cooking their own food on site, that flexibility is the whole argument.

The original Prince of Wales vaults are now the Champagne Bar, where the night ends.

The Party Ends Under Brick Arches.

Beneath the marble and the gold leaf, the original Prince of Wales cellars survive as the Champagne Bar: low brick vaults, a long counter, and the Annexe alongside, which dresses for dinner under the arches. It holds 120, or 150 with the Annexe. Couples use it as the third act, taking the whole party down a flight of stairs at the point in the evening when a big grand room starts working against you. Nobody leaves the building. That is the trick.

116 Pall Mall stands on the north side of Pall Mall in St James's, behind a columned Nash portico, a few hundred metres from St James's Palace and Trafalgar Square. Piccadilly Circus is a five-minute walk, Charing Cross ten. London City airport is nine miles away and Heathrow fifteen, about thirty-five minutes by car. Guests staying over have hotels of every kind within walking distance in St James's and Mayfair.

116 Pall Mall does not publish a wedding tariff, and the 2026 wedding brochure carries no figures. The only numbers in circulation are third party and should be treated as indicative rather than quoted: Coco Wedding Venues cites from £18,000 for a weekend July wedding including food and drink, and Hire Space cites a £12,000 venue fee and minimum spend on the Nash and a £6,000 minimum spend on the Carlton. Registrar fees are separate and are paid to Westminster Registry Office. An external caterer on dry hire carries an £1,800 inc VAT damage deposit. The venue quotes each wedding on enquiry; the LWD team makes the introduction.
