Montalcino, Val d'Orcia, Tuscany, Italy

A Fortress Above the Most Beautiful Landscape in Tuscany.

Castello di Velona has occupied this ridge since the eleventh century, when it was built to watch over the valley below. Today it stands as a luxury resort and thermal spa, with panoramic terraces facing every horizon and an underground world of mineral springs, thermal pools, and travertine marble. The estate produces its own Brunello di Montalcino and organic olive oil. The views are UNESCO. The wine is your own. The castle is entirely available for one celebration.

Weddings at Castello di Velona Resort

A Ceremony Above the Val d'Orcia. The Estate's Own Brunello at Every Table.

The panoramic terraces of Castello di Velona face all four cardinal points, so a ceremony can follow the light as it moves across the Val d'Orcia through the day. A civil or symbolic ceremony on the terrace, a Tuscan aperitivo in the castle gardens as the sky changes colour over Montalcino, and a wedding dinner on the Settimo Senso terrace at the western edge as the sun sets over the UNESCO landscape. Every glass poured from the estate's own Brunello. The OLISPA open for the wedding party throughout. The castle, and everything in it, exclusively yours.

Brunello di Montalcino at Every Table. Gourmet Tasting Menus at the Edge of the World.

Settimo Senso — the seventh sense — is the gourmet restaurant of the castle, positioned on the west-facing panoramic terrace with the most celebrated view of the Val d'Orcia at sunset. Five and seven-course tasting menus composed around the produce of Tuscany, paired with the estate's own Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino and organic olive oil. Wedding banquets are built individually with each couple by the in-house kitchen team: from a traditional Tuscan feast to a modern tasting experience, always with the estate's wine.

360° Panoramic Terraces

Four terraces face each cardinal point of the compass, giving 360° views over the UNESCO Val d'Orcia. Ceremonies follow the light across the landscape — morning, afternoon, and sunset — each with a different and unrepeatable horizon.
