He wrote the manual, and then he kept the house.

Most wedding designers hire the room, hire the caterer and hire the florist. Angelo Garini owns a room, runs a kitchen and cuts the flowers, and he trained as an architect before he did any of it. The studio has been in Milan since 2001. The family villa on Lake Maggiore has been in the family longer than that.

He was raised among the things he now works with. Art, architecture, books, flowers and a table laid with attention, in a garden and a family house on Lake Maggiore where the summers ran from May to October. He qualified as an architect, kept the interiors work, and added celebrations to it, which is why his weddings read as designed spaces rather than as decorated ones.

The rest of the output is unusual for a planner and it is all his own: a manual on wedding planning, a book on the history of receiving, a book on wedding scenography, a bride’s diary, a set of children’s books on manners, a magazine called Immagina, and a podcast, Let’s Celebrate, made with Tabata Caldironi. He teaches the subject at institutes in Italy and abroad, directs the study centre at Federmep and presides over Hey Italy. In February 2026 Let’s Planner gave him a lifetime award for galateo and the art of the table at Villa Miani in Rome, and in March the WIM for PRO community made him an ambassador. Both are the studio’s own report of the honours rather than independent press.

The Difference

The design and the dinner come from the same desk.

A wedding usually has a planner, a caterer and a florist, each with a contract and each with a different idea of what the evening looks like. Here the concept, the flowers, the lighting, the table and the kitchen are one studio, and the villa can be too. Fewer contracts, and one person to hold responsible.

From the first conversation to the last plate cleared.

The first meeting is a conversation and costs nothing. He reads the couple, then he reads the space: what it already does well, what it will fight, where the light falls and where the sightlines run. The scheme comes out of that reading rather than out of a mood board. He runs the site visits himself, develops the project, chooses and coordinates the suppliers, and is there on the day. Requests arrive ten to fourteen months ahead, and one celebration takes about a month of his working time.

Wedding Design and Scenography

The concept, the palette, the flowers, the lighting and the table, drawn as one scheme by an architect who reads the room first. This is the studio’s centre of gravity and it is where the fee sits. No price list is published; the first conversation is free and the quote follows the brief.

Banqueting

A kitchen and a service brigade under the studio’s own name, so the menu and the table are designed by the same office that designed the room. It is quoted as its own line rather than folded into the planning fee, which is the honest way round.

Villa Garini e Cà Bianchetti

The family house on Lake Maggiore, in the Golfo della Polidora at Laveno. A twelve thousand square metre park, the Romanesque church of San Defendente in the grounds, two private moorings so guests can arrive by water, and the Barchessa della Regina pavilion, which seats around 130 to 150 depending on the source. Civil ceremonies are held at Palazzo Perabò a few hundred metres away.

Interiors, Objects and the Rest of the Year

The architecture practice never stopped. Interiors, sets and objects, plus a publishing imprint, a magazine and a podcast. Couples get the benefit of it in one specific way: a designer who works with rooms all year does not treat a wedding as a temporary decoration problem.

Lake Maggiore

The home water, and the reason the studio owns a venue at all. Laveno, the Golfo della Polidora, a park that runs down to two private moorings, and a lake that gives you arrival by boat and a sunset in the same evening. Seventy-five kilometres from Milan and twenty-five from Malpensa, which matters when the guests are flying in.

Milan and Lombardy

The studio is on Via Celio, and Lombardy is where the work is densest: palazzo interiors, gilded halls, and the kind of room that already has a ceiling worth looking at. The register here is restraint, because the architecture is doing most of the talking.

Florence and Tuscany

Florentine salons in white and gold, a piano in the corner and a cake put where the light is. Tuscany also gives him the opposite problem, gardens and cypresses and hard afternoon shade, and the schemes change accordingly rather than travelling unchanged.

Puglia and the South

A table laid in white and lavender in front of the trulli. Round tables on a walled masseria terrace with the vineyards running out behind them. The south is where the buildings are strongest and the flowers do least, and where the evening runs latest.

Investment

No Price List, and a First Conversation That Costs Nothing.

Weddings at This venue typically represent a total investment of Bespoke, depending on guest count, season, and the level of bespoke elements chosen.

Garini Immagina does not publish a fee. It never has: the archived versions of the studio site from 2012, 2018 and 2023 carry no figure either, and the 2023 page says only that the first consultation is free. The studio quotes each celebration against its own brief, which here means the number of days, the number of locations, how much of the table and the kitchen the studio is asked to take on, and how much of the design is built rather than hired. What the fee covers is design, planning, direction and on-site coordination. Banqueting, when the studio caters it, is quoted as its own line. Venue hire and every outside supplier are contracted and paid separately.
