Weddings in Sicily

Susafa is an ancient 18th-century stone masseria and eco-retreat high in the Madonie mountains of Sicily, restored by the Saeli-Rizzuto family and taken on exclusive use for weddings. Couples marry among the olive groves, dine at a long table in a golden wheat field at sunset or beneath the vaults of the Il Granaio granary, and stay in rustic-chic stone bedrooms in the borgo, with the pool, the cypress paths and the Madonie mountains all their own.

La Plage Resort sits directly on the shore at Isola Bella, in the nature reserve below Taormina in Sicily, part of the Ragosta Hotels collection. Couples marry on the sea-view terrace or on the beach itself, facing the little island and the turquoise bay, then celebrate in the glass-walled Scilla hall, out on the terraces, or on the sand at the beach club under lanterns, with Sicilian cooking at the Idda restaurant, the Thalea spa, and rooms and suites with sea-view jacuzzis a few steps from the water.

Alessia Randazzini plans an intentionally limited number of destination weddings a year from Caltagirone, Sicily, most of them for couples marrying on the island from somewhere else entirely. Real Etna countryside weddings, not a styled shoot: dry-stone vineyard walls, hand-painted ceramics, and a Sicilian pupo doll passed between guests mid-ceremony.

Corinne runs Sparx from her hometown of Taormina, planning full-service weddings across Sicily, from Baroque piazzas in Noto to countryside estates beneath the olive trees. She takes on ten to fifteen weddings a year, and no other kind of planning at all.

Paola Lapi was born and raised in Taormina and founded her own wedding planning practice in 2024, after a background between Milan and Paris and time spent in Four Seasons hospitality. She works with international couples across Taormina and the rest of Sicily, taking a limited number of weddings each season.

A destination wedding agency based in Messina, planning across the whole of Sicily since 2012. Emma and Simona are British and Sicilian founding partners, working with a third planner, Guendalina. Their published portfolio runs to twenty three weddings, each with its venue, month and year named.

Daniela Riedlova founded My Sicily Wedding in 2015, after years in banking and events in Prague and a holiday in Sicily she never came home from. She and a team of six plan around twenty weddings a season across the island, and their portfolio runs from a tuna fishery under the sea stacks at Scopello to a castle in the Iblean hills.

A destination wedding studio based in Catania, working across Sicily, run between the island and London. Certified against UNI/PdR 61 as both Wedding Planner and Destination Wedding Planner, under ACCREDIA accreditation, and taking a deliberately small number of weddings a year.

Mariangela Spinella founded Taormina Weddings in 2015, after fourteen years running banqueting in one of the town's luxury hotels. Over her career she has organised more than a thousand events in Taormina, at least seven hundred of them weddings. The agency works in Taormina and across the rest of Sicily.

Marica is Sicilian. She trained in Taormina, spent more than ten years abroad in hospitality and events, took her diploma in London and trained at Sarah Haywood Weddings, then came home to Palermo to found Marica Events. Fifteen years in the work, more than two hundred weddings, and a deliberately small number of them each year.
